About mrs. long
I am very excited about a wonderful year at Olde Providence in third grade! I was born and raised here in Charlotte as the younger of two daughters. After graduating from Myers Park High School I headed up the mountain to Boone, North Carolina where I attended Appalachian State University. While at Appalachian I majored in Elementary Education, was on the ASU Dance Team, and enjoyed everything that Boone and the beautiful mountains had to offer.
I moved back to Charlotte after graduation to begin my teaching career. I did my student teaching at Olde Providence in 4th grade. I then moved to Elon Park Elementary. My first year I taught 2nd grade and was named Outstanding First Year Teacher of the Year. I moved to 3rd grade and continued teaching for 9 more years. I became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2014. I received my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Appalachian State in 2019. I'm excited about becoming part of the Olde Providence family and this new journey. I love teaching 3rd grade and I can't wait to start another fun-filled year!
I have a one year old little boy, Keegan, and 8 precious nieces and nephews. In my free time I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy photography, dancing, traveling, reading, and going on adventures. When I get a chance, I love escaping to the beach for a relaxing weekend. As all of my students know, my family and I are huge ASU Mountaineer and Carolina Panther football fans!
